SRH vs GT: The Gujarat Titans (GT) continued with a strong run in IPL 2025, securing a convincing 7-wicket win over the struggling team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Sunday. With the victory, GT was able to climb to 2nd place in the points table, while SRH continued to remain rooted at the bottom, searching for the answers after the 4th consecutive loss in the Indian Premier League in 2025.

SRH Batting Struggles Continue in SRH vs GT

Opting for batting first, SRH got off to a shaky start. They lost the early wickets, even after the aggressive push. The innings they gave were not able to gain momentum, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with 31 off 34, and Heinrich Klaasen, with 27 off 19, offered certain resistance. The late cameo made by the skipper Pat Cummins scored 22 off 9 balls, which helped them to post the modest 152/8 in the 20 overs.

The real destroyer of the GT was Mohammed Siraj. He ripped through the middle order of the SRH with the sensational 4/17, including some of the key dismissals, including Travis Head and Abdul Samad. The disciplined line he showed and the clever variations made by him kept the SRH team from building any kind of substantial partnerships.

Shubman Gill & Washington Sundar steered GT to a comfortable win

In response to the Gujarat Titans losing Sai Sudharsan (5) and Jos Buttler (0) quite early, they raised the hopes of the SRH fightback. But Shubman Gill, leading from the front, played quite composed and stood with an unbeaten 61 off 43. He anchored the chase with a class.

The game-changer was the explosive 49 off 29 balls by Washington Sundar. It included 5 fours and 2 sixes. He showed an aggressive approach against the spinners of SRH, leading to a shift of the momentum entirely in the favour of GT. After Sundar departed, Sherfane Rutherford (35 off 16) offered to finish the fireworks. He smashed 6 boundaries and one 6 to seal the win in just 16.4 overs.

What does it mean for Indian Premier League 2025 standings?

With the win achieved, Gujarat Titans (6 points from 4 games) now jumped to 2nd place, and they are just behind Delhi Capitals, which is unbeaten. The team’s balanced attack led by Siraj and the steady leadership by Gill has now made them strong contenders.

As for Sunrisers Hyderabad (2 points from 5 games), the season seems to be slipping away. The batting inconsistencies they showed and the lack of bowling penetration remain major concerns. With the key players failing to fire up, they are required to have a quick turnaround to stay in the playoff contention.

Key Takeaways

  • Shubman Gill showed great leadership and was calm under pressure. He is now leading by example.
  • Mohammed Siraj is showing brilliance– His 4/17 broke the back of SRH.
  • Washington Sundar created an impact– He gave a game-changing knock at No. 3.
  • The middle order of SRH woes– It is too reliant upon Klaasen and Cummins.
  • Bowling lacks the bite–Expensive spells were seen from Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar.

What is Next?

  • Gujarat Titans will be facing Rajasthan Royals in the next game. They are looking to solidify the top 2 spots.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Chennai Super Kings in the must-win clash to revive the campaign.

Will SRH be able to find a way to bounce back? Or will the GT team’s momentum continue them further in the Indian Premier League? The drama will continue for now.

Stay tuned! The best is yet to come.
