Carmichael is located around 3,00 km west of Queensland coast and is ideally positioned to maximise the opportunities the Galilee Basin presents. The Carmichael project is a thermal coal mine and a rail project that transports coal generated from the Galilee Basin to different Asian countries, including India. This project has delivered thousands of jobs for the people of Queensland in the process. It has also been delivering a million tonnes of coal per annum. Because of the development of this project, there has been a significant improvement in the living conditions of people in Australia. The Transnational Project in Bangladesh:
The Adani Godda project is another international venture of the Adani Group. Although the power is generated from the Godda power plant in Jharkhand, all the energy produced is supplied to Bangladesh to light up the homes in the country’s remote areas. This is the first transnational project taken up by the Adani Group and has significantly allowed the conglomerate to strengthen its control over the power sector. The Adani Godda power project has two units, each of which has a capacity of 800 MW. The ultra-supercritical thermal power plant has been shipping electricity to Bangladesh through a dedicated 400 kV DC transmission line.
The Adani Bangladesh project has offered Bangladesh energy security. It has also strengthened the cross-border relationship between the two nations. The project operations were completed within a record time of 3.5 years. It also ensured that the mining operations were carried out completely sustainably. To ensure environmentally friendly operations, the Adani Group has installed a flue gas desulfurizer and selective catalytic converter system to reduce emissions at the project site. With its extraordinary efforts, the company has also reduced power costs in Bangladesh, thereby facilitating enhanced industrial operations.
The Mining Projects in Indonesia:
Adani Enterprises supports mining operations in Indonesia. The company has constructed a coal terminal at Borneo on the island of Kalimantan to support its mining operations. Adani Enterprises has been using highly mechanised mining methods to extract coal from Indonesia’s mines. The mining operations have used 45-50 T class excavators, 25-30 T class dumpers, and 160-190 HP class dozers. The company has also built a coal terminal to service its mining operation.
The coal mined from the coal mines is crushed to produce a thermal coal product for domestic and international markets. The project has offered thousands of job opportunities to the people of Borneo. It has brought about a complete development of the overall area. The present capacity of the Borneo coal mine is 2500 TPH. It will be upgraded to 5000 TPH in due course. The company has already transhipped over 20 MMT of coal to date. This number is only going to increase with time.
