
In the historic movement for the national capital, Bhartiya Janata party leader Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the Delhi CM on Thursday. She became the 4th woman to hold such a prestigious post. Her oath-taking ceremony was held at the iconic Ramlila Maidan. It was attended by some of the senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Amit Shah, the union Home minister; and the other dignitaries. The event was marked by the return of the BJP to power in India after a gap of approximately 26 years. It ends the decade-long ruling of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Rekha Gupta is a first-time MLA. She comes from Shalimar Bagh. She took her oath of office in the afternoon, pledging to uphold the constitution. While working for the welfare of the citizens of Delhi. She was joined by the six cabinet ministers, including Parvesh Verma (Delhi), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), Pankaj Kumar Singh (Vikaspuri), Ravindra Kumar Indraj (Bawana), Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar) and Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Rajouri Garden). Parvesh Verma, who won the constituency of New Delhi as he defeated the AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, expressed his gratitude. He thanked the leadership of the party and also the people of Delhi for trusting him with the huge responsibility. “The citizens of Delhi have given us a mandate of 48 seats, and we have a huge responsibility towards them. Under the leadership of PM Modi, we will make Delhi the most beautiful capital in the world,” he said.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who took the oath in Punjabi. He made a promise to address all the critical issues associated with clean water and air. He said, “We will take action against those who commit corruption and ensure that Delhi gets the development it deserves.” Similarly, Ashish Sood even emphasized the resolve of the BJP to make Delhi a ‘Viksit Delhi’ (Developed Delhi) and ensure holding accountable anyone who looted the city in the past.
Delhi CM Election Came with Grand Ceremony and High-profile Attendees
The swearing ceremony was a very Grand affair. Some of the top BJP leaders attended it, including the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He congratulated Gupta upon her appointment. He later even wrote in a post on X, “Many congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on being elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in Delhi. Under PM Modi’s guidance, Delhi will become the developed capital of a developed India.”
The presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the event even added to the significance of the oath-taking occasion. The crowd was erupting in the chants of Jai Shri Ram as the PM arrived at Ramlila Maidan. Some other prominent attendees included union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP national president JP Nadda and the chief ministers from the BJP-ruled States.

Delhi CM Takes Oath- Security and Traffic Arrangements
Elaborate security arrangements were made. By the Delhi police for the event. The police deployed approximately 25000 personnel, along with 15 paramilitary companies to ensureoper law and order.
