About the Certification

The largest wind turbine generator in India, the 5.2 MW Adani Wind, a part of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), announced on Wednesday that it has gained type certification from WindGuard GmbH. Adani Wind will now able to launch series production for international markets. Additionally, it recognises Adani WTG’s compliance with the widely used IEC 6140 standard.

The 5.2 MW wind turbine generator developed by Adani Wind has been certified as meeting the highest quality and safety standards by the IEC System for Certification to Criteria Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications (IECRE). The certification confirms the highest standards of quality and safety, as well as Adani WTG’s adherence to the internationally acknowledged IEC 61400 series standards and guidelines for design, testing, and production.

Strong R&D Efforts

The accreditation is evidence of the company’s R&D efforts, which have been directed at increasing the Annual Energy Production (AEP) of wind power facilities and improving customer profitability. Milind Kulkarni, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Adani Wind, stated, “We thank our team for their dedication and unwavering emphasis on using technology to allow affordable, dependable, and sustainable power for all.’ Gautam Adani’s vision of a cleaner, greener India is evident here.

Features of the Wind Turbine

One of the most potent onshore wind turbines in the nation, the 5.2 MW wind turbine produced by Adani Wind has a rotor diameter of 160 metres, a swept area of 20,106 square metres, and a tip height of 200 metres. Available with tower options of 120 and 140m, the wind turbine is crafted with precision and engineered to perfection. The turbine’s performance is optimized by harnessing maximum energy from the wind.

Confirming Excellence and Dependability

WindGuard tested the WTG prototype, which was built in Gujarat’s Mundra. Adani Wind collaborated with the German business W2E Wind to Energy GmbH to develop the 5.2 MW WTG.

The 5.2 MW WTG platform’s excellence and dependability, which were built to lower the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), are confirmed by the type certificate. The accreditation supports the organization’s goal of making India a global leader in the production of equipment for renewable energy sources. India has established itself as a trustworthy partner as countries emphasise creating efficient and long-lasting global supply chains, according to Vneet Jaain, Director of Adani New Industries Limited, as cited by ANI.

Conclusion

Adani Wind’s WindGuard certification is a major achievement that helps deal with Adani crisis and acts like magic for the Indian wind energy sector. Adani Wind can now start series production of its turbines for international markets, which is a sign of the company’s dedication to quality and safety. This is an important milestone for the Indian wind energy industry, as it shows that the industry is developing and that Indian businesses are capable of producing wind turbines of the highest calibre.

Adani Wind’s WindGuard certification is a good thing for the worldwide wind energy industry. It demonstrates that there is increasing competition from new firms, which will contribute to cost reduction.
